The redesigned Versa is 2.3 inches lower, 1.8 inches wider, and 1.6 inches longer than the 2019 version, and it looks a lot like the Nissan Altima. Three trim levels are available: S, SV, and SR. The black grille has chrome accents, and it echoes the eye-catching style of the angular headlights. There’s also a matching lower grille. The base S trim comes with keyless entry, push-button start, 15-inch wheels, automatic high beams, and all-season tires. The SV has 16-inch wheels, and the SR includes 17-inch wheels and fog lights. Higher trim levels also have a rear spoiler and heated side mirrors with turn signals. Splash guards and ground lighting are optional.
The Versa’s variable valve timing continuously adjusts engine output for optimal efficiency. Its four-cylinder, 1.6-liter motor produces 122 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque.
This sedan’s independent front suspension gives drivers and passengers a smooth, comfortable ride. The S uses a five-speed manual transmission, and other trims have a continuously variable transmission for easy shifting with a sporty manual feel. The S can go 27 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway, and other trims get 32 mpg in urban areas and 40 mpg on the open road.
The 2020 Versa seats five people. It’s more spacious and refined than the 2019 version, and the buttons and knobs on the dashboard are easy to reach. It comes with a 7-inch touch screen, three USB ports, a large glove box, speed-sensitive volume control, keyless entry, buttons on the steering wheel, push-button start, a four-speaker audio system, an in-cabin air filter, a 12-volt power outlet, and a trip computer. With the SV, you’ll get folding rear seats, a second 12-volt power outlet, silver accents on the dash, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Choose the SR for remote start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and a six-speaker sound system. You can also add heated front seats and a rear door alert system to remind you to check the back seat.
This sedan is designed to help you handle unexpected situations and keep yourself and your passengers safe. The advanced air bags use occupant classification sensors to prevent them from deploying at high speeds and injuring children. There’s also a rearview camera, a hands-free texting assistant, side-impact air bags, driver and passenger knee air bags, and side curtain air bags with rollover sensors. Braking assistance with pedestrian detection helps you stop faster in an emergency, and it can send additional force to the rear brakes when there’s more weight in the back. Dynamic vehicle control can apply the brakes for specific wheels as well. Traction control, a vehicle immobilizer system, lane departure warning, and hill start assist are standard. You can also choose intelligent cruise control, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and driver alertness monitoring.
